The 3rd Annual Celebration
May 20, 2006
Lake Pleasant, AZ
Its a wrap! The third annual event at Lake Pleasant, as well as Saguaro Lake, was, by all recounts, greatly successful. In all, the Phoenix Sail & Power Squadron and the USCG Aux Vessel Safety examiners inspected over 110 boat of all types.
Six of Phoenix Sail & Power Squadron members were able to complete their supervised vessel exam training requirements for certification. Two of the six, by this date, have passed their on-line exam as well. The increase in boating inspectors will help next year and years to come. The day could have gone any better and the presence of the Phoenix Sail & Power Squadron and the USGC Aux was very well received
Great thanks go out to all the dedicated volunteers who made this a great day and their fine spirit. Lake Pleasant Parks Department helped make this day happen. Much appreciation is owed to them and we look forward to future events with their cooperation. A mountain of literature, which was assembled, distributed and sent our message home with the boating public stuffed in the event bags.
This year we were awarded a grant from the National Water Safety Congress to help finance the event. That money was spent on literature, ballpoint pens, signage and prizes to promote the event, as well as support necessities on site.
Those that had their boats inspected were rewarded for the time with a prize as the photos below will attest to.
